## How to read these records

### The record

Businesses that collect or owe a City of Chicago tax — amusement, parking, ground transportation, hotel, lease, use tax and others — register with the Department of Finance.

### Status

Registered taxpayer. Sole proprietors are left out. The record ID is made by this site from the name and address.

### What is not here

Individuals, and any name without a company word (Inc, LLC, Corp, Co…). Owner and contact names, phone numbers
and mailing addresses, which this site never downloads.
